NERD is no ordinary skincare brand: by leveraging the unique properties of an individual's microbiome, the products challenge the notion that we only have one type of skin to deliver personalized, effective treatment. I was tasked with building an unconventional packaging for the anti-aging line, which matched the integrity of the identity. I also partnered with a digital agency to develop a new website that is more than a product site. It is also a research tool to provide more in-depth knowledge of skin issues.

The anti-aging packaging concentrates on its focus through minimal details such as the geomehigh-readibilty typography, soft and effortless colors.The packaging represented both the science behind the brand and its perception among users.

Website

In a highly competitive category, our differentiation strategy was to focus its eCommerce experience on education in addition to conversion. Our goal was to ultimately guide users to the product for their needs in one simple flow.

Utilized various use cases to assist the customers to understand the complex of science behind.

Visual system

In order to position NERD as the funny friend full of helpful advice. We brought a more human and empathetic tone to the brand’s photography.

A large part of the visual system was based on distortion and text effects to let the brand’s personality shine. To form these stylistic distortions, we created a series of actions and tools that the client team could have easily used to execute without any design experience.

To help bring character and depth to layouts, we created a series of branded textures and patterns to be used as background elements and signifiers across other touchpoints.
